Prepping for Comic Con and Attempting to Predict the Artemis III Crew
What I did as a science communicator in June and STEAM opportunities you should know about
June was the calm before the storm. My last month without work travel for a while. July I’ll be in California for a bunch of work and then it’s off the sea again in August. So this month was all about setting the ground work for what’s to come.

What did I do in June working as a full-time science communicator?
🚀 I made two longform videos for YouTube this month, both focused on predicting the crew Artemis III. This was a lot of work because I really wanted to provide the research on how I came to these predictions. Its been a big goal of mine to make more time for YouTube videos and I was happy to see these were both received well! You can watch one below.
🤳 Continued making some short form videos for my own platforms as well. My best performing videos this month were related to Artemis III and today’s NASA spacewalk.
🦸♀️ I put a lot of effort into planning for San Diego Comic Con. I’m doing an experiment trying to treat this year’s comic con trip more like a business trip, focusing more on networking and business opportunities. So I sent a lot of reach out emails and worked on a new Ms. Frizzle cosplay I’m super excited about.
🎞️ I made and posted 1 sponsored video this month, this time in partnership with a space subscription box, GalaxyBox. I tried to make it a good mix of educational and promotional. I also signed on for one sponsored video next month.
🌕 Continued my ongoing social media work with Astrolab. It was a calmer month after some big news for them in recent months as we regrouped and did some longer term planning.
⚙️ A video I made for the USA Science and Engineering Festival on mechanical engineering jobs posted this month.
🔭 Participated in an interview for a PhD student writing a dissertation on science communication on Instagram.
✍️ Applied for a bunch of small programs and grants. Here’s hoping something comes out of the applications!
🎥 Created 1 new social media video for CBS Mission Unstoppable.
🥇 Was excited for ASME (The American Society of Mechanical Engineers) to select me for their 2026 Mechanical Engineering Watchlist! When you work for yourself there’s a lot less award opportunities, so it was super great to get this recognition. You can read their full article on me here.
🛫 I also took a small amount of time off for 2 family trips, one to a wedding where I did sport some space fashion!
